Wave

jazzy funky reggae rock." "We're not into any one form," keyboardist
and vocalist Micah Gilbert said. "We have no holds even inside of a
song. It could go from being reggae into a country song. Not that we do
that, but we could. That's how we are." The band is now in what they
call "Wave three." Gilbert and Mike Lockwood (guitar and vocals) are
Wave's original members, "Wave one." Jon Clark (bass and vocals) joined
later, "Wave two." Travis Jackson joined as the new drummer in January
2008 and Wave transformed into a new band again, "Wave three." "The good
thing about it, the two of us (me and Mike) has longevity and then the
three of us (including Jon) have longevity," Gilbert said. "Then I made
the switch from bass to keyboards and we have a violinist (Jon, who also
plays with Clark & Company) as a bass player. Violinists make incredible
bass players. They play bass way better than bass players. The three of
us have been really lucky to play with several incredible drummers.
Incredible beyond the point, more so above the level the three of us
play our instruments. Travis is the most incredible drummer yet." Like
its music, Wave also likes to mix up its shows, not getting in a
specific pattern within the club circuit. "It's kind of a joke with the
band," Clark said. "We say every song we write has to be different than
the one we wrote before. That sort of keeps us growing and keeps us
doing something different.

Roper Electric

Roper Electric is a band of six siblings. Maggie, singer/songwriter;
Dylan, singer/songwriter/guitar; Isaac, saxophone; Andrew, bass; Joe,
piano/singer/songwriter and Jesse on the drums. Their music is a blend
of rock and jazz with a hint of bluegrass here and there. Their
performance proves to be an energizing and powerful experience sure to
make you want to kick up your heels. |
Renee Arozqueta

Renee Arozqueta has constructed an engaging modern folk sound on a foundation of classical piano instruction and self-taught guitar skill. With the addition of an accordion to her repertoire in 2007, her sound continued to develop. Her music carries with it a certain realness, that can be tongue and cheek at times; an unvarnished truth hidden by the lyrics of a hopeless romantic, whispered or belted out. Her voice has been compared to the voices of Natalie Merchant and Fiona Apple, but is multifaceted and dynamic. |

You Win
Instantly

You Win Instantly combines 70's soul, avant-garde noise, and classic pop
/ rock 'n roll. The arrangements of the songs are often in flux and the
band is constantly trying to discover new ways to play, both in terms of
individual songs as well as what makes a collection of sounds into a
"song" in the first place. You Win Instantly's approach is to step
outside (and by doing so, celebrate) the barriers imposed by 3 minute
pop songs.

Mr.Fahrenheit

Mr. Fahrenheit is a funky and very original band from
Pensacola, Fl. Their sound is bouncy and infectious. They love to play
shows for people who know how to have a fun time. Katy Hubbard's blazing
saxophone riffs grab people's attention while Ben Minor pounds the skins
in a very catchy way. Robert Pennington's versatile bass lines flow very
nicely with the jazzy yet funky style of R.J. McKee's guitar. they have
been growing together as musicians for almost a year now and have look
to keep that going for your enjoyment for quite some time.

Doug& Telisha Williams

Doug & Telisha Williams live right in the
middle of the places others only write about. A place where old time
religion, superstition, run down bars, gravel parking lots and boarded
up factories all mingle together. A place where in just one set, Doug &
Telisha can still send audience members to their feet in applause, to
their knees in prayer, and back to the bar to buy another beer.

Billy
Sunday
Thinking
people's music. Pretty and rough. Like an elegant pedicured foot in
a comfortable old leather shoe. Make you cry. Get you laughing. Scare
the piss out of you. Honest. No excuses. We stand in reverence on the
backs of giants. We do our best to carry the flame that Woody lit and
Bob Dylan kept burning so bright in our youth. Ours is the sound of
bald tires on a back road to the party where you learned to dance.
And kissed that girl. And got in that fight. We are a great speckled
bird with Rock and Roll stuck in our craw. We live in the space
between a hot Saturday night and a cool Sunday morning. We all grew
up where Elvis drove a truck for money. And Hank used to play for
whiskey. You hear it in the songs we sing. Our separate voices become
some new greater thing. With words we hope ring true.

Kevin Koontz
My music is my way of teaching myself to remember
the unconditional love within myself & all that is. To share that
vibration with everything and everyone. The more I write about what i
see and feel, The more I learn about myself. The Less I look forwards &
backwards~ The more I am reminded of the Unfolding Now. Then I can
appreciate my harmonious peace of the puzzle and the fantastic balance
of creation

Heritage

Formed in 2007, starting with three guys in a backyard with a ukulele and a set of bongos, they played just for fun with family and friends. Before they knew it, they were performing locally. With the addition of Hunter Dawson, a guitarist with a rock/alternative style, hip-hop drummer, RJ Hernandez, reggae-influenced bassist, Matt Moore, latin/pop percussionist, Dave Posey, and the smooth soulful vocals of Eric Yra, they bring both a flavor and appeal to the masses. They eventually started recording their original masterpieces, producing an authentic sound, which is now HERITAGE. Today, HERITAGE is sharing their passion and love for music on the Gulf Coast gaining ground quickly throughout the US and beyond.
Although HERITAGE is comprised of seven very different ethnic backgrounds and personalities, the synergy between them is extraordinary and comes together on stage, creating a dynamic visual/musical experience. They cited influences like Bob Marley, Incubus, 311, Sublime, Ben Harper, Michael Jackson and even the Cure. Their fans would say that their music would be considered as eclectic island pop, giving HERITAGE widespread appeal and bridging the gap between an array of musical influences.

Betsy Badwater & The Hillbilly Chrome
Betsy Badwater’s one woman band HAMMERS down a stout distillation of rockabilly, country, blues and high-lonesome bluegrass. Scrape your knees on the redhead's vocal chords as she sings catchy, yet ruthless, low-slung tall-tales with The Hillbilly Chrome: her 7 piece swamp-billy-blues porch band in which every player cross-trains on multiple instruments, including upright bass, slide, steel, hollowbody and resonator guitars, banjo, harmonicas, juice harp, and “hobo percussion” (motorcycle and auto parts, hubcaps, washboards, moonshine jugs, a kitchen sink, and other junk yard treasures). Bring your dancin’ shoes and don’t be afraid to Stomp & Holler right along with us! It might do ya some good!

Tanya Gallagher

Since her 24 year-old brother in-law, Jonathan Britnell, packed up and headed west to the lonely star state of Texas, Tanya Gallagher has ventured out in the Pensacola music scene alone but not afraid. One half of the acoustic /folk duo, Baylen, 22 years old Gallagher is out doing what she loves to do; writing and perform music. With just an acoustic guitar and a gentle yet raspy voice, Tanya captivates her audience with her thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies. Since her brother-in-law’s departure to Austin, Texas, Tanya has been caught playing around town with an assortment of talented Pensacola musicians. She can be found most Friday nights at Will Call smiling and singing the tunes she loves best.

Jonny Lipford
What does it mean to think "flute outside the box?" Jonny Lipford takes an age old instrument and uses it to create sounds that are new and not commonly linked to the Native American style flute. Lipford's hands play out melodies that are uniquely pure, envoking a variety of emotions that will warm your heart and leave you astonished at his musical technique. Today Jonny Lipford shares his music with audiences across the United States and broadcasts world wide. Lipford has been featured on NativeRadio.com, the worlds largest collection of broadcasted Native music, as Spotlight Artist with the debut of his first release. As a composer of his own music, Jonny has been recognized as a 2x NAMA Nominee, ISMA and JPF Nominee and NEMA Winner. It's hard to believe that one so young could have mastered the flute so perfectly. With a love and respect for all types of music, Jonny awakens these genres, making him a true virtuoso in this industry.

Sassafrass
Sassafrass is an environmental folk duo who've forged a path and sound all their own. One of the best mostly-under-the-radar singer-songwriter acts in the eco folk music genre, their driving folk/rock rhythms and sparkling harmonies give their original songs, from tongue-in-cheek eco-comedy to hard-biting protest songs and heart-wrenching exposes about endangered animals, an unexpected dynamic presence. The duo are serious environmental activists who've played for Greenpeace and WWF in Copenhagen during COP 15, and for regional and local events. Pub and coffeehouse crowds also have found their beautifully performed compositions to be as rousing as love songs, which, in essence, they are.

Batata
Doce

Batata
Doce (Portuguese for "sweet potato") debuted in the spring
of 2007 as a guitar/vocals duo of Atlantans Russell Owens and Leticia
Arioli, performing their earliest shows at a DIY venue called the
I.S.P. space in East Atlanta. Two I.S.P. staff members saw the need
for a fuller sound, and thus Justin Sias and Todd Morrison joined on
bass and drums. Former Rock*A*Teens member/co-founder Justin
Hughes joined next as a 2nd guitarist (having previously played with
Arioli and Owens in the Atlanta rock project known as King
Congregation), and saxophonist Todd Barnett signed up soon after.
Since then the band has made a name for itself in the Atlanta area
for its Tropicalia-influenced psychedelic garage pop sound with
mostly Portuguese-language vocals.

central singer/songwriter from the Lilies has scoured the corners of
the Southeast, emerging with a new project, a new band and a new
perspective on his craft. Fittingly, the working handle for the new
vision is Paper Scissors Rocketpack. |
